Anti Woke Cultural Pushback Gains Traction
For the last fifty years the Republican Party has been held together by a three-part coalition made up of supporters of a robust defense, free market advocates, and religious traditionalists. The last group has long felt that it has been cheated, as the Republican Party has done nothing to prevent the liberalization of morals in the US. Traditional religion has been replaced with wokeness which, in the view of the religious traditionalists, is a sign of civilization's decay. The new "woke religion" seeks a new emancipation leading to a desire to get rid of all moral limits. Woke supporters seek a constant intervention of the state in the private sphere with regard to the body. Woke successes have enabled gay marriage, and the rise of transhumanism, and transgenderism, practices which challenge the boundaries defined by nature.
Look for a cultural pushback to raise traditional family values back into preeminence. Strong advocacy for cultural traditions within the "boundaries defined by nature" is building from a group of Catholic theologians and thinkers: Patrick Deneen, professor of political science at the University of Notre Dame; Adrian Vermeule, distinguished professor of constitutional law at Harvard University; and Sohrab Ahmari, Catholic convert and former journalist for The Wall Street Journal. The skids have been greased to secure intellectual backing for a return to preeminence of traditional values by the rise of the American populist movement unleashed by the 2016 election of Donald Trump to President of the United States.
