Hitler and Putin Comparison?

Supporters of the US proxy war with Russia in Ukraine cite as one reason for the US and Europe to stay the course is that Putin is another Hitler and, accordingly, he must be beaten back from his/Russia's assault on Ukraine. There may be reason for the West to stay the course in the US/Russia proxy war, but the Hitler, Putin analogy is not one of them. The situation with Hitler in 1939 and the one today with Putin is quite different.

Hitler: Megalomaniac seeking lebensraum in Eastern Europe and total control, achieved militarily, of Western Europe. Threat to the US.

Putin: Calculating tough guy trying to revive his dying nation, decimated culturally and economically by eighty years of Bolshevism. Putin does a defibrillation intervention seeking to consolidate culturally Russian lands while steering clear of Western, one world, progressivism. Also, Russia has inadequate resources to mount a conventional assault on Europe. No threat to the US.
