Not your father's Utah.

Tomorrow, Sunday, and Monday, Fourth of July, the liquor store will be closed. In some sense the early line up is understandable as this particular store has a reputation for very long check-out lines.

I got Freddie to walk this AM... kind of. Recently he has been resisting the walks. He now has me in the palm of his paw. He just stubbornly sits down when he doesn't want to go on a walk. He'll only walk back to the van, not forward. Today, however, I headed, Freddie leashed, toward Water Tank Hill, behind Wasatch Bagel. He followed, obediently. I unleashed him when we arrived at the trail. He seemed to be having a good time on the walk. It was my intention to head east out to the North 40 field, then go south, cross UT SR 248 and walk back, west, to Wasatch Bagel on the Rail Trail, a distance of four miles. But, when Freddie sighted the Park City Cemetery on our right as we descended the maintenance road on Water Tank Hill, he raced off, entered the cemetery via the back entrance and sat down some fifty yards into the cemetery. He turned to sit so as to face me. I had no other choice but to follow him. When I reached him, I leashed him up and he led me happily back to the van parked at Wasatch Bagel. We accomplished only about a third of the walk that I had intended. I'm guessing he's saying, "these walks aren't any fun. Take me to the dog park or to someplace with water instead."

PS. We don't think he's in pain because he really jumps and frolics around near the water or when other dogs are present. He's just lazy. Doesn't like to do walks!

Monster thistle. Growth likely aided by wet Spring and early Summer. Such a beautiful, yet menacing, plant.

Addendum:

Just back from France/French and Italian Alps. Our frequent flyer miles went up considerably. Hope all is well.

Jealous. Knowing you two you probably did a ton of vertical and distance either hiker or bicycling.
