Picto Diary - 01, 02 April 2018 - Easter

Golf and I have been enjoying the same routine over the last few weeks.... that is, early AM arrival at Deer Valley. Golf's an expert skier. He recently returned from a heli skiing adventure in Revelstoke.

Golf and wife Cindy Crawford are dividing his time between Park City and Chicago, where he retired from a successful career in medical waste disposal business.

Golf was one of five brothers that TIMDT "au paired" when she was working her way through college. Golf's boy only parents adopted a sister later on, and we maintain contact with the six siblings. Golf's parents, for whom TIMDT worked, have passed on.

Golf's extended family... that is his five siblings... is a prime example of the product of good parenting (pervasively missing today). All the kids have had successful careers and remain married to the same spouse. The extended family now totals 75 ish... including children and grandchildren.

TIMDT and I spent a lot of time with this family in the late '60's. We are very fortunate to have had some of what they were about rub off on us... and fortunate enough to remain in contact today. Most of the family lives in the area. One brother and spouse live in Albuquerque.

Day 31.

I was tired after some tough runs through spring corn on Dakota and Orion. I could do the corn skillfully enough... its just that I have to put more effort into the weighting and unweighting...and the huff puff factor wore me out. The bottom patch running in to Snow Park Lodge was slush by now.... tough to ski ias the pitch is slight. So, I did the unthinkable.... I rode a lift downhill to the bottom. Chalk it up to risk avoidance at a vulnerable time in vulnerable conditions.

From the image you can see that lot 5 is about 1/3 full.... that's more or less indicative that there were some 2000 to 2500, only, on the mountain today. Season's running out. People are looking for other things to do. Notwithstanding... fun day. Got my exercise in.

Above: Easter greeting. My Facebook entry today on Easter, 01 April 2018.

One of the many reasons I like Facebook. I'm in regular, virtual conversations with people, who, sans Facebook, I would never be able to stay in contact with. I made this post early this AM. By noon, I had replies from an old high school friend that I haven't seen in 55 years, a former Citibank colleague from India, and a friend who owns a large hauling company in Salt Lake City.

One mentioned that the Pope had denied the comment. Another, waxing philosophical, using scripture, noted how we would never be able to escape the consequences of our actions. The third opined, "hell is knowing where you could have been."
