Above: No Parking sign. Iron Canyon. Park City, UT. 07 April 2023. Six hundred inches of snowfall Park City ski areas, winter of 2022/2023. Hard to overstate this season's exceptional snowfall. But this winter was not the worst Utah winter in my lifetime. That winter was 1948/49. And, as a three-year-old, going on four, I can remember it. My brother, Dee, was born that winter. We were living at 741 North 11th East in Provo. Among my first memories is the scene outside our house where large piles of snow, pushed from the street by the ploughs, obscured vision of about anything else on the street. I have measured every Utah winter I have ever seen (or been aware of when I was away, such as the winter of 1983) by those winter images in my mind of 1949 Provo. No winter since has measured up to that winter... until the winter of 2022/2023 I have included an image of and a link to the 1949/49 Utah winter.

Above: Zulu. Iron Canyon. 09 April 2023. Watched this fabulous film last night. Zulu is a 1964 British epic war film depicting the Battle of Rorke's Drift between the British Army and the Zulus in January 1879, during the Anglo-Zulu War. It shows how 150 British soldiers, 30 of whom were sick and wounded patients in a field hospital, successfully held off a force of 4,000 Zulu warriors. Great battle scenes. Michael Caine's first big role. Mass Zulu wedding ceremony scene justifies, alone, watching the film. 11 VC's awarded to members of the 24th Regiment of Foot.

Wired and his wife B were Park City Old Town neighbors when we lived there for two years in 2003 and 2004. They were early investors in the Powder Mountain development but have yet to build. Wired says their building plans were hindered by Corona virus, but they hoped to resume their building project shortly. They remain residents of Old Town.
