Picto Diary - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09 February 2020 - Stockli Lasar AX 78's.

Above: (41) Bishop's Office. Empire Lodge. Deer Valley. 05 February 2020.

Bishop's Office. Hyper expert skier, Golf (right), Golf, joins ski geezers at mid morning break. Talks of days when he regularly cut class to go skiing. So what if it took seven years to graduate college, it paid off in the end!

Above: (42) FIS Aerials and Moguls Venue. Deer Valley. 06 February 2020.

Upside down, female, aerials skier. Wearing yellow. Thinkin' OZ?
So, while riding up the Lady Morgan (Deer Valley) lift with Golf and Cindy Crawford, today, Golf sells me a pair of Stockli Laser AX 78s (182 cm in length). Picking them up this PM from Gorsuch.
Blustery, light snow, one inch overnight, with flat light. I skied out a full morning, but stayed away from the longer, steeper runs. Solid workout (pushing around new fallen snow) which, of course, is the object of the morning.
KAT and Middlebury at LSDM, Wasatch Bagel. Topic du jour: Mark Zuckerberg's stated commitment to free speech. Zuke is sailing hard against the wind of wannabe censors, including those from within his own company.

07 February 2020. No entry.

(43) Snow Park parking lot tunnel. Deer Valley. 08 February 2020.

As busy as I've seen DV. Good for them. Joined Montage, Rock and Roll, and the Actuary for pre break skiing on Flagstaff. Post break picked up B1b and Espresso and worked our way back to less crowded Carpenter and Mountaineer lifts.

The Actuary said that Mark Zuckerberg had just purchased Jeffery Katzenberg's DV house. — at Snow Park Lodge.

(44) McKinny, Palmer Trinity, and Bishop. Sultan Lift. 09 February 2020.
Returning to the scene of the proposal... and the wedding.

KAT and B1b joined at various stages during the AM.

One of the rare bluebird days experienced over the last month. — at Deer Valley Resort.

Addendum:

Steve,

I have read the whole 20 book series. (Bernard Cornwell's series on Sharpe) Twice!

Superb historical fictional!

I think it is the best of our generation- equal to Patrick O’Brien’s wonderful Aubrey-Maturin 20 book series.

All the best,

Rob,

You’re in my arena now - May I suggest the historical non-fiction is every bit as good as the fiction, though Cornwall’s Sharpe is as good as the fiction gets.

Oh and Waterloo was 18th June 1815😉

Gutted I missed the last meeting - will try to make one soon

Steve,

Are you a Flashman fan, by George MacDonald Fraser. I have read the entire series. They begin at Rugby School as a spin-off if Tom Brown’s Schooldays with Harry Flashman as a public school bully/coward who was the 2nd soldier to escape the British withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1842. The footnotes are the best part as they tie this ribald series of tales to the facts of the period.

If you have not read any of these this one (https://www.amazon.com/Flashman-Novel-George-MacDonald-Fraser/dp/0452259614) might whet your appetite.

Banker Steve:

Looks cold - the white stuff, fluffy or not, on which you ski.

Me, I'm still over here in the jungles of SE Asia, sometimes "adventuring" on my "bike." (See photo).

When not pursuing motorcycle or bike adventurism, I'm in the final throes of my newest tome, ADVENTURE MOTORCYCLIST: FRAZIER SHRUGGED, due out in May, press launch at BMW Rally in June, Great Falls, Montana. Described as "entertaining, knowledgeable, humorous, and existential, with some lampooning," it should stir up my adventure niche critics as I point at them having their pants down while giving intellectual thinkers wordsmithing food for chewing.

Your weight loss looks good! I think your lost pounds have jumped off you and on to me, as I picked-up 15 of the 20 I lost before I left the States.
