Topics du jour:

Lawsuit. Bob Theobald reports that on 15 October 2024 District Court will consider a Park City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) motion to dismiss his suit against PCMC for omitting required vetting for well drilling and sensitive land analysis for Park City Planning Commision Head, Sarah Hall's personal residence. Bob says changes to properties can affect neighboring properties. "That's why we have review procedures," he says. Bob claims precedent setting documentation supporting his claims has been ignored by PCMC. Bob says, "I've been doing due diligence work on top projects in Summit County for four years. I can tell you that the city dropped the ball on this project."

Myles Rademan recognition. Park City officials on Thursday marked Myles Rademan’s retirement [from Park City Leadership] with a resolution acknowledging his work for the community. Myles has been an LSDM speaker and is a regular attendee of LSDM speaker sessions. LSDM roundly approves of Park City's resolution praising the work of Myles Rademan.

Amendment A. Utah judge voids Amendment A which will be on the November 5 2024 General Election ballot. Ballots before Utah voters will still include Amendment A but votes cast for or against the change to the Utah State Constitution will not be counted. Amendment A would have allowed for diversion of tax income to functions other than education, not allowed currently by the Utah State Constitution. Utah State teachers unions and Carol Lear, State Board of Education and recent LSDM speaker lobbied heavily against passage of Amendment A.

Tennis versus Pickleball. City Council hears from both sides on disputes regarding allocation of PCMC owned playing areas (courts).

Pat and Charlotte O'Connell return from Alsace Lorraine, France. Princeton Alumni trip. Pat says Alsace-Lorraine locals, who have developed a strong sense of independent identity as their region has been ceded back and forth between Germany and France over the last one hundred fifty years, insist that Germany never once conquered Alsace-Lorraine. Treaty or mutual agreement, maybe. But, never conquered.

Steve Pettise had surgery yesterday. LSDM mates wish 'Cake' a speedy recovery.

Jimmy May attends John Curtis's (US Congress, Utah 3) Climate Summit. Per Curtis, Utah annual power consumption is 6.5 gigawatts. Utah is pursuing opportunities to host AI data centers. One data center currently being considered will require 1.2 gigawatts. Another AI company wants 10.0 gigawatts. Curtis: (paraphrased by note taker's capturing Jimmy's report). "Utah wants this business which would represent a significant job and economic growth opportunity for the state. But we're not going to pave the desert with solar panels to get it."

Quick and dirty streaming comments. Monsters. Netflix - too graphic, disappoints. "Slow Horses. Apple TV - Fabulous. Now the fourth season. Better season by season. The Old Man. Hulu. Fabulous!
