(12) FeeBee and Karen. Deer Valley, Gondola. 09 January 2019.
Skied five runs with two expert skier moms discussing parenting (me listening to very enlightening, encouraging discussion) while on the lift. Freed the moms, after five runs, to do some real skiing together sans having to drag Mwah (sic) along.
Karen, skiing telemark, reported a cold week skiing Big Sky over the holidays.
Pre ski jabber over eggs and sausage with 'Bird at Snow Park.
Chance meeting with Howard on Quincy. He informs that upcoming storm gonna deliver three feet over as many days.
Coffee break at Cushings with 'Bird, PGA, and Biscuit. PGA and Biscuit off to Zermatt next week.
Skied out the rest of the morning with 'Bird and Golf. 'Bird gives lots of good ski tips and ski stories.
Excellent bluebird conditions. — at Deer Valley Resort.

Jabbered with Mark pre ski 2002 room.
Joined the Greensboro crowd at Carpenter.
Talked with Ohl at top Mountaineer. Agreed to make ski date.
Ran into Carol at Flagstaff. Agreed to work for a dinner during the week she is here.
Joined Mark for coffee at Cushings. Reminisced about one of the great Park City ski teachers, Ed Martin from Oz. I would tip Ed double because of his role in protecting Western Civilization as an Oz special forces operative in Timor.
Skied a couple of runs with Golf and Mark before rejoining Greensboro crowd and new addition, F16.
Joined F16 and Greensboro crowd at PGA's ski in, ski out condo, for beef chili.
Great snow. Holiday crowd gone. Grooming coverage improving with Mountaineer, Fairview, Silver Hill, and Orion all groomed. — at Deer Valley Resort.

Bishop visits Big Data. Tibial plateau fracture. Sore. Fat knee. No surgery called for now. Still, must stay weightless on the leg. BD has a lot of friends helping him out. Now authorized to drive, but using crutches. Don't be afraid to offer support.
(14) Bishop and Maharaja. Homestake Lift. Deer Valley, UT. 11 January 2018.
At Cushing break, two ladies of a certain age ask to join Maharaja and Mwah (sic) at four seat table. Cushings. Great way for geezers to meet women? Girls were married, Park City retirees from Cleveland and Philadelphia.
Comic Mom skied with us earlier. Joined Comic Mom, Maharaja, their grand son J and his girl friend M for lunch at Snow Park. M and Maharaja to ski tomorrow. J has bum knee. I'll join up for a few runs. Think Rudy Jr. may be joining me tomorrow.
Pre ski: Walked from parking lot with Suppressant. He's skiing only DV these days. Says leg, hurt at PCMR 4 years ago, still not 100%. That means Supressant can only ski 2x as fast as average expert skier. Says he only played 27 holes of golf last summer.
2002 Room breakfast with 'Bird. Great moose story from 'Bird. A few years ago he was skiing down cat track from Wasatch base to Sultan base. He turns a sharp right bend and emergency hockey stops five feet away from a bull moose blocking the trail. He becomes, of necessity, a "moose whisperer," and talks the moose into moving off the trail.
I countered with my own moose tale about a moose cow chasing Ev, the original ski geezer, down First Temptation at PCMR.
Glad to see Broker, who stopped by 2002 room to say hello. He was skiing with some community group.
Kreg was at Snow Park at lunch time. We talked about a recent death in his ex's extended family...a family I knew about, with deep Utah roots. Kreg's daughter is doing well as a LA based buyer for a major retail chain.
F350 was idled just outside parking lot by an exhaust system fault...despite full exhaust fluid tank. Had it towed to mechanic. TIMDT came over to DV and drove me home.
Skiing top notch. Overcast, but not terrible lightning. Sun popped in and out after 11 AM. — at Deer Valley Resort.

Skied pre break with this group, post break with Rudy Jr.
Empire runs slippery. Need snow. Carpenter runs excellent all morning. Magnet groomed but slippery.
Pre ski 2002 room. Jabbered with Sally and 'Bird. I learned of 'Bird's love interests over the years. Greeted Rudy Jr., Z, Grrr, and Roy. Took Roy, seeming happy, up to Rainbow Room and her ski class.
Mid AM break, alone, at Cushing's while Rudy Jr. skied a couple of runs.
Snow Park cheeseburger with Rudy Jr. and B1b. Mynduveroan at adjacent table with friends.

Break at Cushings...reuniting with 'Bird, who skis a different AM routine than I do. In response to my "on your right" dis, 'Bird generally agrees...attributes decline in mountain manners to rise of snowboarders unschooled in ski etiquette.
Skied out the AM with 'Bird on Carpenter runs. A new favorite of mine is Solid Muldoon/Success/Dew Drop/Last Chance/Little Kate...one trip down that traverses a section of each of aforementioned runs.
One Carpenter lift ride with Cleveland who reported successful participation in five day Mahre ski school last week.
Exchanged pleasantries with Tall Karen and her Dad, Jack in the Carpenter lift line.
Bluebird. Great snow, great skiing! — at Deer Valley Resort.

Inside Nordstrom Sun PM, post lunch at Nordstrom Grill. PA announcement: "Lockdown... code red. Everyone, employees and guests, out of the store... now!" TIMDT and Mwah (sic) quickly left Nordstrom. Thinking Nordstrom had some kind of localized problem, we walked, outside, across the parking lot towards the Dillards side. Girl comes towards us and says "active shooter" in Dillards...turn around. We walk for ten minutes around mall perimeter, away from Dillards, to car. Now stuck in lot as everyone trying to get out. Whole area now swarming with black and whites and auto weapon armed cops.
Addendum:
Looks like Lane’s name has gone from Rolex to Bling (will have to start on inquiry) and John has been officially labeled Tarheel, thus officially part of Park City royalty.
Another successful trip, good food, good drink, good friends, and no need for the ski patrol.
