Picto Diary - 09, 10 April 2016 - Deer Valley Closing Day
Above: Epic Mix App printout showing TWO3's accomplishment of almost 3.3MM vertical feet skiing over 140 days at Park City, year to date. Summit House. Park City Ski Area. 09 April 2016.
Today was my 96th ski day, this season. I estimate 10 lifts per day, 1100 vertical feet per lift over that period. eg. This season I have skied just over 1MM vertical feet. I missed 32 days of the ski season due to a trip to India in December/January.
Using my assumption of 1100 vertical feet per lift, that means TWO3 got on a ski lift 3000 times during the 2015/2016 ski season.

Perfect between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Took two laps.
One of the differences, skiing wise, between Deer Valley and Park City ski areas, is that Park City has some good west facing runs, Deer Valley doesn't. On a warm spring day, this makes a difference, as direct sunlight doesn't hit the west facing run until 1:00 PM or so. On days like today (45 degrees at 9:00 AM), while the runs are slushed up on the east slopes, even higher up, on the west slopes conditions can be terrific. Park City's Mikeys, Single Jack, Carbide Cut, and Sunnyside, all west facing, were excellent today. Skiing back to the base area in the slush was a problem... wears me out as I tend to revert to atavistic ski practices in slush.

Storm clouds form in the near horizon. Draw a straight line to the snow summit and beyond, hit Jackson Hole, WY in about 250 miles.

I love the horizontal, colored layering effect coming from this image.

DEER VALLEY CLOSING DAY - 2015/2016 SEASON
PS. PGA showed up at Deux Magots coffee this AM at Wasatch Bagel. He's a former PGA tour player. It was fun talking with him about the ongoing Masters tournament... lost by Jordan Spieth... and won by some guy I'd never heard of.

Took two laps, around 9:30 AM, on Stein's Way, one of the iconic ski runs of North America. Snow was in excellent condition.

Yesterday, Buddy Rich and F16 spent the day on a Sarasota, FL beach.
