Skied with 'Cake. Chili with Mezz, Magnolia, Tex, 1.5, Bacall, Opry, Harte, Taranaki, and A. Now a valued tradition. TIMDT drove up and joined.

Pre noon Spring ski conditions excellent. Great feeling doing turns on the Solid Muldoon steep and feeling the Sockli Laser edge push through the soft snow just right.

REFLECTIONS FROM THE LIFT: (1) Tex: (Showing "news report" to Crimson Tide loving Dad). You won't believe this, Dad! Mezz: Oh no! Impossible! This is not good! Nick Sabin has resigned as head football coach at University of Alabama! Tex: (scrolling further down the news report) April Fool! Timeless meme connects to past and reaffirms the future.

Coffee Break.

Spring walk. 64 degrees. Interestingly, at 9:30 AM this AM I was on skis at the top of Bald Mountain, in the background. Then it was 20 degrees. We're entering shoulder season when there are big temperature swings. There will be skiing at DV until 11 April 2021, when the resort closes skiing for the 2020/2021 ski season.

Bluebird Spring conditions. Ice. Slush. And, everything in between. Caught Tycoon, Steins Way, and Peeler in perfect conditions!

Image: Charles. Empire Lodge waiter. Charles, Caitlin, Chloe, and Thomas have done an outstanding job this year under DV's upgraded and much appreciated restaurant protocols! Indoor AM coffee/hot chocolate break table service! Bishop had 70 plus coffee breaks (many of them on super cold days!) this season served by these personable and hard working kids! No more line ups for coffee! No more spilling the coffee as you walk to a cashier or to your table!

And, the two Danielles have been fantastic as Empire Lodge hostesses throughout the year!!!

Empire Lodge AM coffee break. One more example of how Deer Valley has excelled in 2020/2021, after unnecessarily having been dealt a bad hand by venal government toadies.

I hope DV retains this service upgrade for next ski season.

A 'Cake play. I understand they have good soups.

Jeffery, behind the counter, makes the Italian sandwich, which, now with geezer appetites, TIMDT and Mwah (sic) split.

Restaurants around the country have been dealt a bad hand with arbitrary, unnecessary (by the science), draconian government enforced closures due the so-called "Coronavirus pandemic."

Summit County, UT has fared better than many other areas as restaurants have been open, albeit outdoors and half capacity, indoors, since late April 2020, eleven months ago.

TIMDT and Mwah (sic) resumed eating out at our normal frequency (three to four times a week) eleven months ago when restaurants reopened after being closed for a five week period. We go out because we like to eat out...but, the knowledge that we're helping restaurateurs, and kids like Jeffery, who need the jobs, in situations where restaurants are being unjustly sanctioned, makes the eating out experience a bit more enjoyable than it already is.

It is amazing how different areas of the country respond to the hyped up disease scare. In November 2020, while driving the Sprinter west bound on I 40, we stopped at a Texas Roadhouse steakhouse in Amarillo, TX for lunch. Most tables were occupied in an obviously thriving restaurant environment.

Three hours later we arrived in Albuquerque. All New Mexico restaurants were totally shut down but for curbside service.

With the practice of lockdowns not supported by science, I wonder if the people of New Mexico will wake up to realize they've been had by venal political leaders, and vote in leaders who believe in science. Or maybe not. Maybe they like being told what do do, whatever the reason given.

One of the reasons I could never be a Democrat is their wholesale rejection of science across multiple fronts.

Above: Image 1: Did a turn on Steins Way/Sultan with Golf and Cindy Crawford. Skiing is in these kids' genes. (they're grandparents, but they'll always be kids to me). Golf and Cindy told of four year old granddaughter skiing at DV for the first time this year and skiing 16 lifts first day out. Image 2. Empire Lodge coffee break. Thomas and Kirk. Hyper-outstanding waiters executing DV's spectacular table service coffee breaks throughout the ski season.

Addendum:

A lot to be learned from Bob Wheaton’s philosophy, which works in every industry. Reminds me of when he showed up at our place, managed by Deer Valley, for an open house to which he was invited. Michelle asked if he worked in maintenance as he showed up with Chuck, one of the DV maintenance techs. His simple response was “yes, I do whatever needs to be done”. Michelle later learned “who he was” and then understood why the Deer Valley brand was what it was!
