Fruits of Mormon culture are top state debt rating, lowest state unemployment rate, and best state growth rate... not to mention numerous qualitative factors that make Utah a superior place to live and raise a family. Utah, not unlike Israel, has made its desert bloom like a rose. Many non-Mormons have seen the benefits offered by living in Utah and, have moved here adding different backgrounds, talents and skills, to create a more diverse and exciting cultural mix. As a show of gratitude for the Mormon contribution to the State of Utah, Salt Lake City has named it's principle boulevards after Ceasar Chavez and Martin Luther King.

Every day when I look in the mirror while shaving I laugh at myself, sometimes saying out loud, with a question mark, "I'm still here?" There's got to be some kind of an award for a writer who can have a sober conversation about how to ride a motorcycle through Africa, or around the world, with Ronald McDonald, and come away with some insight that exceeds that available through books, DVDs, Internet forums and standing-around-the-campfire bull flop.
Or maybe the guys hunting me with the straight jacket just haven't been looking in the right places (like in the middle of an Indian reservation). I do keep a copy of an email once sent to me that said, 'When I meet you I'm going to deal with you the old fashion way." That fellow takes himself too seriously, obviously far more than I do myself.
