T he Pope, in 2019, channels Brigham Young, in 1847.

In 1846, it took the Donner Party thirteen days to get from this point to the Salt Lake Valley below.

In 1847, it took the Mormon advance party six days to cover the same distance. The Donners had done a lot of the heavy lifting (trail blazing) the year before.

Either way, some real tough going to cross the Wasatch.

Today, by automobile, the trip takes less than an hour.
