Deux Magots Walkers

Image: ROMEO types noshing and bantering in Hilton parking lot, owners of a bevy of big ass RVs such as the one shown at right of image.

Excited about our up coming entry into the RV culture, I walked up to have a chat.

Me: HI guys! Nice RV's!
Them: Thanks.
Me: Where ya from?
Them: Tennessee.
Me: Hey! Joining your world! Bought a Sprinter!
Them: [Scornful glare]...as in "who the f... are you?"

I was gobsmacked as I suddenly realized that with the Sprinter we would be near or at the bottom end of the motor home food chain.

I cringed as I imagined the social isolation and scorn we were about to endure when hooking up at the next tony RV park or unhooked in a Walmart parking lot.

I had imagined that the Freightliner branding of the Sprinter, my Carhartt overalls, and my Browning ball cap might raise a few eyeballs at the RV park, but it never occurred to me that in RV world social hierarchy, vehicle size matters.

I do not look forward to the sleepless nights ahead as I obsess about the upcoming social isolation we're about to endure because of our pathetic, puny RV.
