Much of Bishop's social engagement and education comes via La Societe Deux Magots (LSDM) ROMEO group speakers. The group started fifteen years ago as a coffee group which met at Wasatch Bagel daily. We don't have speakers every day, but, we've had over three hundred speakers since inception. LSDM has grown by leaps and bounds since Covid’s arrival. We’ve had people like Peter Thiel, Jon Huntsman, Jack Carr, Chris Fischer, and Donald Kagan speak in the past few months.

Typically 20-50 people join for Zoom discussions with speakers (typically 5-10 minutes of opening remarks, followed by Q&A). Notes from the calls are sent to well over 400 recipients. The membership is super interesting … a lot of fascinating backgrounds and real “hitters.” An archive of speaker notes can be found in the group's website:

Some blind dates I would have been better off handing the girl $20 and telling her to go get a bite on her own.
