Out for a walk.

Growing up along the Wasatch Front, sights like this seemed normal to me.

Now, late in life, I am in awe.

Now I see stratification, evidence of cataclysmic upheaval, and timelessness...maybe even design.

I had to return, after 30 years of being away, to see beyond the veil. — in Mount Olympus, Utah.

Above: Jim Wilson speaks to La Societe Deux Magots. Wasatch Bagel, 13 November 2018.

Jim, Park City Mountain ski instructor, walks ROMEOs through the story of his head injury suffered in a ski accident, including two brushes with death and three surgeries.

Jim admonishes skiers whose friends have fallen and hit their heads while skiing to insist that their fallen friends obtain an immediate, professional evaluation for possible injury. Jim says don't take no for an answer.

Also, advice received to wear MIPS rated ski helmet. — with James Wilson at Wasatch Bagel Café.

Addendum:

Another common interest---I memorized lots of Kipling by age 12 and can still recite Gunga Din, Tommy, and a few others.

Beautiful tribute for the day. Perhaps we’ll be around for the WW II centennial. My daughter has flown into Canada twice this month. She didn’t know that Canadians wear the poppy NOV 1-11 to remember those sacrifices. Because of your posts and making me aware of the centennial, she wears a crocheted poppy on her flight attendant uniform. She was the only one to do so. I felt like a real parent. We need to bring back this symbol every year. Americans are sometimes too lucky to be unaffected by wars.
Today’s war hits home though. We’re leaving now for the first memorial service for our niece’s husband, Maj Brent Taylor. As Governor Herbert described Brent, “...the best blood of a generation”.

Lest we forget.

Yes, that must have been a great motorcycle trip but our 2:00 am sighting of the Gallipoli monument is a sight I will never forget. You are really impressive in your quest for knowledge and adventure.

Agree. Quiet, peaceful, late night cruise ship passage through the Dardanells, seeing the monument to the Turkish war dead, was a stark contrast to the carnage going on at that same spot only 100 years before. It was one of those moments emblazoned into one's psyche, which reinforces the stark lessons of history. I enjoyed sharing that experience with you. Check out image below... memorializing that very moment.
