Picto Diary - 12 to 20 April 2025 - Post Spain Recuperation Week

Note: Picto Diary covers a week at home after three weeks away on a Regent cruise from Miami to Barcelona and ten days in Spain accompanying our friends Hoops and Bronx Girl.

I spent the week going to medical appointments. I came home with two medical tracks to follow. 1. Neurological scan of head and f/u with neurologist re my ski fall six weeks ago. 2. Possible eye lid surgical reconstruction. I also saw my GP. One medical visit, however, was unanticipated. On 13 April 2025 severe stomach pain came on in the AM. A CT scan showed that I had a double hernia, though whether that was the cause of the pain is inconclusive. I was administered pain killers which made life tolerable, and the pain disappeared completely twelve hours later. Doctor at the IHC trauma center speculated stomach flu since my condition was accompanied by aggressive expectoration. TIMDT thought she heard the doctor make a stronger correlation between the hernia and the pain than I did. In any case, I have a consultation with a hernia surgeon coming up next week. The neurologist says I have a small subdural hematoma that has developed since the ski fall. I'm to have that looked at in a month. The good news is that the likely cause of the memory loss of the ski fall was not a seizure or a mini stroke as an EEG shows normal brain activity. The neurologist affirmed that memory loss after an event is very common. The big dent on the left side of my ski helmet says I got whacked pretty hard. Not knowing what happened is still frustrating. So, now I'm on three tracks: 1. eye lid. 2. head bleed. 3. hernia.... all of which might require surgery. Pitfalls of growing old? When not seeing the doctor, we spent our week home resting and being with family. Otherwise, but for the slowly dissipating jet lag, and a bit of congestion (declining) I feel fine. We'll go to Ivins tomorrow for more R and R.

Outside on the deck. Where he wants to be. PS. Snow this late in April always seems to be a surprise, but, looking back, I'd say late April snowfall in Park City, has not been all that uncommon.

Brunch.
Happy Easter!
It was easy to get reservations at Remington's. It was a soft opening for its first holiday brunch. No one knows about Remington's as a brunch option as the hotel has only been open for three months. The brunch was top notch! Kudos to FeeBee for suggesting Remington's and making the reservation.
We'll go back!

Just finished a two day, 1500 mile run to Montana and back in a rental car. Good to see you've got nice weather. I spent 8 hours driving in a snow storm through WY which really beat me up mentally and physically.

Thanks for the update.

Am now reading an older Harry Bosch cop novel I probably read years ago in paperback. still good stuff IMO.

Politically I am an agnostic, but it's sure a crazy USA I came back to three weeks ago. I worry that l'll find myself deported back to my Res.😀

Thanks again.
