TMDT and Mwah (sic) owned property during the '70's in Covered Bridge Canyon (Spanish Fork Canyon offshoot) evacuated today.

This AM, at the Helper Shell, taking a refuel break while riding the Duc from Green River to Park City, two good old boys warned me that US 6 and US 89, in Spanish Fork Canyon, were closed on account of fire. By 10 AM, the fire, which was started by a lightning strike 06 Sep (hat tip Guzzi), had consumed 20K acres.

Having intended to take US 6 and US 89 home, I detoured from Helper. I rode north on US 191, picked up US 40 in Duchesne, and reached Park City by noon.

These are the same winds fanning the flames of the southern Utah County fires noted in yesterday's image (scroll up).

Bishop is Executive Producer of this CD. 17 September 2018.

A sort of quintessence of mainstream jazz in the ways in which it lends itself to wander through the uniquely American twists and turns of the genre. The musicians here who are renown for their talent are serving their drummer/leader well as he wields his sticks in an ethereal manner over compositions that could be standards. Groove, swing, an ounce of blues, of elegance in every case. Who wouldn’t find this reminiscent of the Jazztet of Benny and Art? Play it again, Jay!

Primarily via currency manipulation China has been an unfair trader with the US for the last thirty years.

Trump's tariffs against China are the right actions to take to redress China's unfair trading practices.

Ronnie

Hi Steve,

Yes, we completed the trip in August. Ronnie flew from Dallas and I flew from Denver and we all met in Anchorage on the 29th of July. There were three others in our group. We’d shipped the bikes in crates from Dallas and then assembled them on the 30th. We spent the next 3 1/2 weeks working our way back to Colorado. Ronnie had his truck and trailer stored here and they loaded up their bikes and drove back to Texas when we arrived at my place in Colorado Springs.

Ronnie had a number of dirt roads worked into the trip both in Alaska and in the Yukon which was great for seeing the back country. We made it up to Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean but didn’t make it to Tuk on the Canadian side. When we arrived in Eagle Plains, we found out both ferry crossings at the Peel and Mackenzie Rivers were flooded over so we decided to go the 23 miles north of Eagle Plains, get our Arctic Circle sign photo on the Canadian side and drive back to Eagle Plains for the night. Guess Tuk will have to wait for another trip.

We ran into a lot of forest fires in British Columbia, Alberta and Montana so had to bypass a few spots due to evacuations and road closures. We had lots of rain, cold and mud on the trip. In hindsight, weather-wise might have moved the trip up a month. The leaves in some spots were starting to change and Eagle Plains had snow right after we left. We all installed handle bar muffs which with the wet and cold, was a life saver. With the heated grips, the muffs kept our hands warm and dry.

I have about a dozen emails with photos that I sent my brother in law in August that pretty much outlines the trip. So if you’re really bored and a more in depth story of the trip, just let me know and I’ll forward.

Take Care,

Tim,

Bishop (Banker) Steve:

How is your weight loss program coming?

Mine (from May 1-July 27) knocked off 30 lbs, which were still gone a week ago. But this AM I checked my weight after 48 hours of travel time, a Big Mac combo, one chicken fried steak, two large colas, 1/2 pizza and three real beers, plus assorted snacks like chips and I've seemingly picked up 3-4 lbs in a week! Friends here have all commented on how much thinner I look, and it's been nice to bend over easily to tie my shoes, but since I have no motorcycle racing on my schedule, I may pork up again.

Pic attached is from a couple weeks ago, a spoof to an acquaintance about my boxing training. I told the recipient I train once a week for two minutes, then go into my sleeping room and take a nap. These "Golden Years" are Fool's Gold....last week my road bike got away from me as I was moving it in my garage and I spent 20 minutes getting it upright....LOL

Echo Park Dam proponents did their PR work locally in the Vernal area. The Sierra Club and other protesters did so on a national level with letter writing campaigns to Congress. Essays by the likes of Wallace Stegner were collected in a book called This is Dinosaur. This was the first victory for the Sierra Club and taught them how to organize to affect a desired change.
