Remnant conestoga wagon.

Kids may have to wait before they fully internalize the fact that many of their ancestors (Grandpa Taylor 's line) came by this very spot 160 years ago in a wagon very much like the one pictured here. — at Bear River State Park.

Echo cliffs.

Kids learn that 4x Great Grandfather, Andrew Hunter Scott, was atop these cliffs as a fifteen year old member of the Mormon Militia in the summer of 1857. Why? To harass Albert Sidney Johnson's 2000 federal troopers as they made their way to Salt Lake City with the purpose of taking out Brigham Young. The Utah War fizzled as friend of the Mormons Thomas Kane brokered a peace between President Buchanan and Brigham Young. — in Echo Canyon Utah

Book Review comments:

"The Institute." Stephen King

Stephen King - I met him once. He was riding a H-D across country. We chatted at some H-D aftermarket parts shop in Colorado. He said he didn't have time to write books anymore, had 4-5 people in his Maine office cranking them out...maybe that is your referenced "stream of consciousness." With screen plays, travel engagements and contractual obligations I could understand where his time was limited.

I've just finished my 100,000 manuscript submission to the Content Editor for my next book (# 15) due out in late May, launch at the BMW rally in Montana in June (my only commitment for any public appearances in 2020 - I've gone into a serious recluse mode in these Golden Years).

I've no stream of consciousness in my work, and tend to agree with what George Orwell said about writing a book:

“Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout with some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.”

Like you, I might spend too much time reading, especially books requiring the suspension of disbelief, novels like THE GUARDIANS (John Grishman) and WINNETOU (Karl May) this week. Albert Einstein said of Karl May's work, "My whole adolescence stood under his sign. Indeed, even today he has been dear to me in many a desperate hour."

Regards,

Dr. G aka Abenteuertou in my new screen play for a spoof of May's work for a presentation in Germany in May, 2020 at BMW's largest motorcycle dealer's 50th Birthday party.

"The United States of Trump." Bill O'Reilly

Steve,

Nice job. I agree with you throughout.

All the best,

Steve,

I have supported Trump throughout his tenure as President. For the first time in a long time, here in the US, I feel safer with him in office. The only other time was with President Ronald Reagan. No one will push him around and he is not afraid of confronting individuals or nations, when needed. Peace of mind. Needless to say, he has been excellent in all his policies and keeping campaign promises in spite of Congress, on both sides of the aisle, trying to derail them. I believe he truly loves America.

Planning to vote for him again and support with $$, where I can, all the candidates that he supports as well.

I have recently read it as well. Well done and a great synopsis by you.
Another interesting, but academic work on the subject is Alienated America by Tim Carney.

Thank you for your insights / You certainly were one of the few that were sold on Trump winning 😎

"Underland." Robert McFarlane.

Are you aware of the neutrino lab set up in the mountains of Park City Mountain Resort, back in the Spiro tunnel? You can find a bit of the story here:
https://www.parkrecord.com/news/park-city/neutrino-hunting-in-a-park-city-mine/
With hundreds of miles of tunnels and 100 years of history, there is quite a bit to discover without ever leaving town.

"Nothing Like it in the World." Stephen E. Ambrose

Prof Bishop, I found your report on reading and relating to Nothing Like It In The World by S. Ambrose to be like a wonderful college class lecture by an enthralling prof. And I say so at the well perceived risk of coming off totally sycophantic. I especially appreciated your comparison to the moon landing.

I'd truly love to see a book from you.
