Anticipating the onset of the great cooling. Looking forward to a succession of longer post season ski openings at Snowbird. I do worry a bit about shorter growing seasons, though. Will we be able to grow enough food to fee everyone?
Above: Jon Huntsman Sr. examines a patriotic sculpture given him after delivering remarks to a regional Rotary conference. 19 May 2017.
I was invited to Huntsman's speech by 'Cake, a Rotarian. I was, for a period in the '80's, a member of the Provo, UT Rotary Club. I was able to get into the club because I was a Provo property owner at the time. I lived in Tokyo and my purpose in joining Rotary was to attend meetings of the Tokyo, Japan Rotary Club. The Tokyo Rotary Club was the only place where top Japanese business leaders could hob nob. I think I went to one or two meetings. Nothing much came out of the experience. But, in general, my hats are off to Rotary... a great community organization. Dad was a Kiwanian in Provo.
Huntsman told of his own life long experience in Rotary.
Among others, Huntsman talked about the importance of ethics. "While it may be legal to fire someone with an email its not ethical," Huntsman said. "When you have an issue with someone, he said," you should deal with him or her face to face. Only in that way can you get an honest read of the person and the issues involved.
There was a positive, even inspirational, tone to the speech. Huntsman engages. At 80 he still has a twinkle in his eye. Also, I appreciated the speech for scoring high on the substance/brevity scale.
Thanks to 'Cake for the invitation! — at Park City Library.

Addendum:
Great to be in PC and to experience part of the week with you and Margaret...we hated missing the shindig at F16's and the chemist, but next year...great walk Saturday.
Hope you enjoyed Huntsman yesterday. Awesome man!

Cookoo clocks are great fun. I had one for years that traveled from N. j. All over Asia and back home to N.Y. But alas it didn't make it to Fla. (Hint). Whatever you do, don't let the weights go all the way to the ground.
