Picto Diary - 16 March 2019 - Family skiing
Above: (62). Grrrr. Deer Valley, UT. 16 March 2019.
This kid can ski! The day you realize that your eight year old grandson is a better skier than you are!
Grrr did laps down ungroomed, black diamond Magnet. Soft snow. Day old grooming...still sweet since I skied it yesterday .
Earlier, Grrrr followed his cousin Bud down double black, powder, tree off piste track to Sultan. Someplace I'd never go!
Also for Grrr, Bud, and Mynduveroan (who later skied with her Wasatch Freestyle ski class), the obligatory waffle at Snow Park breakfast. Later for Grrrr, hot chocolate at Empire lodge break, and cheese burger/giant cookie with Aunt FeeBee, his dad and Mwah (sic) at Snow Park late lunch.
Now Grrr's out skiing laps on bumpy White Owl with his Dad. Grandpa too beat to continue skiing with them.
Maharaja stopped in at breakfast and joined Mwah (sic), Rudy Jr., B1b, FeeBee, Bud, and Grrrrr for three runs over at Mountaineer. Golf also showed up at breakfast bringing with him more funny customer stories.
Connected with 86 year old ski geezer Ohl for one Carpenter lift ride.
Epic Bluebird conditions. Busy. Hope Alterra not losing too much revenue due toleration of brownbaggers and back pack beer at the Silver Lake beach.
Safeguard your brand, Alterra!
Fun with family. How joyful to watch the kids progress in their skiing abilities! — at Deer Valley Resort.

Aside from BYU, Utah County is best known for its burgeoning baby boom and blistering tech...respectivly, the central drivers of Utah's population and economic growth.
Not much fine dining in Utah County. People raising large families haven't the time or money for such frivolity. But, there's one good option we visiting geezers have been taking for years, eating out in Utah County. La Jolla Groves. Varied menu. Value. Quality. If I can get TIMDT into a restaurant repeatedly, I know its good! She raved about her kale salad....gave me her walnuts. Mushroom soup (not gratinee, they have that too) is my favorite starter.
Love coming to energetic, forward moving, Utah County! — eating dinner at La Jolla Groves

Addendum:
What a contrast to Villars, where we have a chalet and spend half the year. First, Utah is BIG. Second, lots of blue sky...Swiss weather is more 'flukey', clear in the mornings then overcast after lunch. Third, it looks 'deserted'...in Villars, the weekends can be packed and dangerous. But the lunches and wine can be super. And the helo evacuation service is excellent (pay Sf 4.50 for insurance or risk a Sf 10,000 bill for a flight to the main hospital at Monthey in the Rhone valley).
