"My wife and I have been travelling, overland across America for the last five months. The divisions in our wonderful country are far less than we read about."

Inventor goosed his 911 Turbo engine at Wasatch Bagel this AM. He was showing off his new exhaust system. I told him his car sounded like a sewing machine, then, seeing the disappointed look on his face, I quickly apologized.

Inventor noted my TT fleece (see image). Bishop don't show off new exhaust systems, he shows off fleeces. Inventor pined about going to the TT. I said my June 2015 experience on the Isle of Man was one of the most exciting of my life.

I just had to guess when to push the shutter to get this image. Most times I failed. The thought of something going so fast, here about 190 mph, this close to you, is hard to process.

Thanks Steve. I enjoy your email/picto diary a great deal. Although not as much as much as shaking your hand personally.

Tell Jim, thanks for this wise advice. I have already had two subdural hematomas and I know what he is talking about.

Steve, This from an ER doctor friend of my sons. The bit about brains shrinking as we age explains a lot!

"I wonder if this guy was on any blood-thinning medications. Unfortunately it's pretty common for us to see people coming in with pretty catastrophic bleeds as a result of their blood thinners + some form of trauma.

As we get older, our brains literally shrink, and the veins that reach from the brain to the skull get stretched further and further, making them susceptible to shearing during any sort of head trauma."

Steve,

My wife (71) is home now. Was doing a ham stretch, and fell backwards, hit her head (on Wed. 9/12). We went to ICU on Friday when headache did not clear. Scans showed bleeding had stopped. No invasive surgery needed but taken off Eliquis. This required close monitoring of pacemaker. Five days in ICU, followed by a week on general ward at Cedars-Sinai brain trauma ward, and another week in rehab hospital. All ok now, no loss of senses but very scary. Loss of appetite and weight, all food tasted salty yet sodium level dropped below normal, fatigue, weakness, slow recovery. Several specialist visits after her hospital release told her how very lucky she was. All head injury requires immediate scan. Neurologist noted that most of his patients sign-in due to head trauma.

We are so very lucky. So is Jim.
