Picto Diary - 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 July 2016 - Designated Riders?

Above: Motorcycles parked in front of "No Name Saloon," Park City, UT. 17 July 2016.
I wonder how many of these riders have designated "riders?"

Note: I posted this on Facebook and got a lot of "faceback" along the lines... of, "maybe they were just drinking lemonade..." or, "No Name" is also a restaurant." " Maybe they were just getting lunch." Fair 'nuff. I still don't think the conflation of motorcycles with an institution primarily known as a bar is a good one. Notwithstanding, I hope the riders at No Name had a good time.

Shifting Gears.

I stopped in at Park City Clothing immediately after capturing this image. I've bought Pendleton shirts and Filson vests there for years. I asked Doug, the owner, how business was going. He replied, with a shrug, "OK.... up and down." "Well, what I mean is, how, in comparison with prior years?" I said. Doug replied, "we're flat. I think it has to do with general uncertainty in the world and with the upcoming election," he said.

I was initially surprised to hear this. By general consensus, Park City is crowded with visitors, it seems, as never before. Notwithstanding, we know that middle class wages have been flat for a decade and that the middle class itself is shrinking as a percent of the pie. It may well be that some of the economic torpor being experienced by some local businesses is that while people are coming they are not spending.

Just sayin'. There are a lot of factors going into economic performance.

The other drummer was not able to make it to the concert so Bud played all four numbers... the sole drummer tonight for the New Bop Big Band.

Wait.... or was this the year it snowed at the top of Mosquito Pass?

No Big Dog ride this year... as last year was the final year for the ride... run over 20 years each August.
