Freddie and Joseph Smith sphinx. Not the first of these images taken. I enjoy coming to Gilgal. Quirky and creative. One of SLC's best spots. I usually come over here when TIMDT is shopping at Trolly Square.

Work colleague at FNCB Finance, Manila, PI, where I was assigned as Chief Operating Officer from 1979 to 1982. Excellent employee. Worked in legal and credit. Honest, polite, competent. I remember him often in a suit when other Filipino employees and myself would be wearing Barong Tagalogs. RIP, Ray.

Historic transcontinental passage. 1846 - Donner Party. 1847 - Brigham Young and Mormons. 1866 - Pony Express. 1868 - Transcontinental Railroad. 1930 (circa) - Lincoln Highway (first paved road connecting east and west coasts). I am always moved in this spot as I try, in my mind's eye to actualize the historic events that occurred here.

Too crowded. Couldn't get in. Dined across the street at Denise's Plate, mediocre Sysco reheated food ordered served fast food style. When last I ate at Denise's six or eight years ago, they had server sit down table service. Polar King, by contrast, is in my Utah top twenty restaurant list. Sorry to have missed the Polar King carne asada. Note the trucks in front of the restaurant. My grandpa DeWitt used to say that the best places to eat were where the truckers stopped. Certainly, for Polar King he was spot on.

I-80 corridor looking north to the opening of Echo Canyon on to the Weber River. Just Freddie and me. I came back to this area after being nearby yesterday to walk the Witches Rocks Trail, to fire off some rounds of the Rugar .38 Police Special, and to have carne asada at Polar King in Coalville.

What I wanted, but couldn't get, yesterday, but came back for today! Not disappointed.

Above: Peterbilt, second from left, accepting one of two truckers of the year awards from TA Travel Centers. Award ceremony somewhere in the Midwest! One of the TA Centers in Utah will be named after Peterbilt. I can't speak to Peterbilt's truck driving expertise, but character and overall competence-wise, I know very few people with more qualifications. 22 October 2022.
Above: Alma Jewel Smith Dickerson. Daughter TIMDT, son Marshall, and daughter in law, Linda. Pocahantas, Arkansas. 22 October 2022. Mom (Alma) doesn't have the memory she once had. TIMDT reveled in brother Marshal's telling of family stories. We'll have to make sure that Marshall records his musings someplace. Image captured by Mrs. Kessler, who accompanied TIMDT on the two-day trip.

Addendum:
Terrific Steve, thanks.
A year ago, at 80 after hip surgery, I just wasn't as comfortable on 2 wheels as I had been. So, to extend my riding career for many years, I switched to 3 wheels and a Can Am! Once I got the hang of it, riding with my friends is the same as ever, though I do miss the feeling of counter steering thru turns.
