Three or four times between late 1979 and mid 1982 I went sailing with a friend, Don, on Manila Bay. Here's Don and here's the boat. Don recently sent out some nostalgia pics,
They were good times with a good friend. I didn't know much about sailing. But, one time Don sailed the boat close to the wind and it seemed to me that the boat was going to founder.

The other sailing experiences I had were in the mid-70's on Sydney Harbor. I lost interest, early on, when my sailor host had me pulling ropes most of the time. At the time, I didn't get the joy and the science behind sailing.

Another time, one of my Sydney direct reports, Brian, invited me (and not TIMDT) sailing. When I showed up at the dock, Brian was with his girl friend and another 25 something looker female. Straight shooter as I was, nothing came of it. Nor, did I let Brian go. He was my CFO... really smart. He built a cost management system for my Division... Field Operations Division, Citicorp Australia, that became the pride of the company for cost management.
