I have promoted the SDT safety bar doctrine that the default position for the bar is down and one need only announce that it is coming down now. Saturday after long delays in the chair, a young woman asked if she could put the bar down. It was my pleasure to explain the SDT Doctrine.

What a crazy experience to have someone say that you can only ride up with them if you agree to not use the safety bar! First not using the safety bar is a really unwise idea for a wide variety of reasons. Second, trying to impose your unsafe will on another skier seems beyond the pale. What did she expect you to do? Jump off the chair? Truly one of the crazier stories I have heard this year.
