Waiting in massage chair for uber shopper TIMDT (yes, I paid for massage), I was bowled over by forty something mom in adjacent chair.

She was nursing an infant which she held behind a pillow case, while keeping track of three other kids happily running around the nearby mall area, all daughters, from ages five to fourteen.

After the feed was finished, she gently placed the infant in the stroller, rounded up the three girls, and purposely, cheerfully, authoritatively walked off direction Nordstrom.

I now understand why women are genetically, yes genetically, predisposed to multitask. Men, par contre, are genetically programmed to be monomaniacal.

I would have never been able to handle this women's challenge with the calm, aplomb, and demonstrable kindness and love she showed...ultimately, as the primary focal point for civilization's most important function...that of preparing the next generation to fulfill to the max life's destiny. Men have their role here, but it's on the periphery as a support to the one genetically programmed as quarterback: Mom.

I considered giving her a thumbs up before she left, but considering the intimacy of the moment, I figured my reaching out might be misconstrued.

I have hope for the future when I witness scenes like this. The experience offsets the tragedy of kids being raised in soulless day care centers, coming out with glassy eyes a la "Village of the Damned." — at Fashion Place.
