Ma and Pa ski resorts will benefit from growth in number of skiers who want to ski, but, who want to avoid the hassles (stressed law and order, disease threat, and activist, progressive political orientation) of major resort owners and resort town municipal governments. The rising, boomer Class B RV phenomenon will aid in this business shift.
You heard it here first. Look for it! The coming rise of the Ma and Pa ski resorts.

Sign says, "California Trail, Original Route." Not exactly true. Some of the earliest California overland pioneers were convinced by con man Lanford B. Hastings to save three hundred miles on their route west by avoiding coming this far north and, rather, making a bee line west across the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake Desert ("The Hastings Cutoff"). These hapless travelers spent sixteen unplanned, extra days hacking their way down Big Mountain, in the Wasatch, to the Salt Lake Valley, and lost half their cattle to thirst when crossing the eighty mile Great Salt Lake Desert before reaching water at Pilot Peak. The name of this group of California aspirant unfortunates? The Donner Party.
After the Donner fiasco, California bound pioneers and Forty Niners took the northerly route shown here through the City of Rocks, in order to finally "see the elephant."
