Here, a new generation. We must do right by them. Christ's aspirational message seems more important than ever in these times of civilizational drift.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

We coulda had fun today, but we have to ski with these darn kids.

Cold.

Best "ski runs:"

Silver Lake Lodge (for cookie and cider).
Stein's (skiers' buffet).

Oh, wait.... those aren't runs!

Still, a bit of skiing as a side light.

PCM shots. 28 December 2016.

Pre break: overcast. Flat light.

Post break: Partly sunny.

Killy at break.

PCM mostly open. Skied Sitka, Silver Star, Payday, and Quitn' Time runs for first time this year.

One of best Decembers at PCM in my memory.

Felt good skiing today.

Lottsa DV holiday visitors teaching me some fun ski techniques that I've been missing out on:

1. The Gate Block. Always stand directly in front of a lift gate access point. Watching the frustrated expressions of skiers trying to enter the gate is a lot of fun.

2. The Don't Look Start. When you are stopped on a ski run, never look uphill before you resume skiing. It's a lot of fun spooking and discombobulating skiers coming up from behind, expecting you to only start up after you have checked up hill. If you're lucky, you might even force a collision. That way you could have orthopedic surgery and have friends at home sign your broken leg cast.

3. The Invisible Rest Stop. Stop skiing just below the crest of a change in pitch, where up hill skiers can't see you as they descend, until they're only feet away. It's fun to watch the surprised skiers bob, weave and flail as they try to avoid colliding with you.

4. The Cross Hill Scoot. Ski in a disciplined, even S pattern down the right side of a ski run. Then, suddenly, unpredictably, without looking behind you, make an abrupt left turn and ski to the left side of the run. It's fun to see how many near miss crashes you can have with skiers coming from uphill who are surprised about your unpredictable turn.

Unbelievable how well the little kids ski. 8 year old Mynduveroan takes double black diamond runs through the trees I would never consider skiing.

Happy New Year.

As promising time as I remember over the last 30 years. I've never felt better about prospects for these kids.

Still a lot of damage to be repaired. Start with $20 trillion US indebtedness.

Also, more bumps in the road ahead. Therapeutic steps don't happen sans pain.

Addendum:

Ha! Not so - twas a fun morning. Now that I’m in the hood, I look forward to joining your posse often!

Happy New Year to you!
