Picto Diary - 24, 25, 26 June 2019 - Osmosis Books

Why I don't read electronic books.

Electronic books are out of sight, therefore out of mind. I'm convinced, being surrounded by these physical books, that I learn by osmosis, just seeing them nearby.

Real books aren't going away anytime soon. It is a known fact that Captain Jean Luc Picard only read physical books in his cabin on the starship Enterprise, star date 2673.

"40 years ago I could make a living writing. Today, in the digital age, I get about one fifth the pay for the same amount of production. Good thing I set money aside when I was doing well!" — at Wasatch Bagel Café.

Addendum:

Easy to be optimistic when looking out at the world from the top of it. I see a race to destruction between man-produced pollution, plate tectonics, and space debris - with mankind comfortably in the lead. But, have you seen the History Chanel show on the 2004 US Navy fighter pilots from the USS Nimitz on patrol west of Baja clearly tracking Tic-Tac shaped ship with no wings, no exhaust, making non-earthly hoovering and stop-and-go supersonic maneuvers? Clearly, no known life-form could survive such movements, unless it traveled thru space without being subject to gravity, matter or the laws of force. I'm betting on AI-with-consciousness UFO's revealing themselves in Deus ex machina fashion and trying to save us from those forces and creating a true Eutopia. Just don't hold your breath.

That little girl is going to be something. She just appears to be naturally and unaffectedly on point. Good luck with her.

I have a young male grandchild who is like that, just precocious in his abilities from athletics to intelligence to people skills. He is 18, about to enter college at Claremont McKenna College and will play tennis for them.
