Old stomping grounds, looking at Brickell Key... a much more filled in look than when I lived in Miami 20 years ago. Circa 1986 TIMDT and Mwah (sic) stayed in a high-rise condo in this area when there were only two or three high-rise buildings erected. Loving the equable winter weather here.

Lunch with US Congressman Gary Palmer, R Alabama, Mezzanine, and three other of Mezz's buddies. Palmer's attending the National Republican Congressional Committee Meeting here at the Mandarin. Palmer, #5 in House Pub seniority, spoke to LSDM a few months ago.

Palmer noted that a Federal Judge just nullified the recent Alabama redistricting plan put forward by Alabama's Republican majority state legislature. Judge said plan disenfranchised black neighborhoods. Alabama has two weeks to put forward a new plan. Pubs may appeal, however.

Many other topics were discussed at lunch including the likely investigations initiated when a majority Pub Congress elected in 2022. Palmer wants retribution against State Department officials who stood in the way of evacuation of Americans from Afghanistan., for one.

Met Jim Jordon, R-Ohio, in the Mandarin lobby. Jordon a strong possibility for Speaker of the House down the road.
