Picto Diary - 24-25 September 2024 - Birthday Girl TIMDT

Roadrunner on patio. As we spend more time in Ivins, we're concluding that these birds are not uncommon in the neighborhood.

TIMDT! Enjoy your birthday lunch! Happy birthday, TIMDT!

Aside: The contrast between heavily robotized McDonalds where few workers are seen and In 'N Out burger is marked. Each time I visit an In 'N Out Burger I'm wowed by the enthusiasm and work ethic of the employees. The founders of In 'N Out have really come onto a great formula for a fast-food operation. The Carls Jr., across the street from this establishment has far fewer customers than this In 'N Out.

Addendum:

Steve,
Excellent pictorial overview as always. Curious if VDH was well received, and did he draw a full crowd, despite P C wokeness?
Victor ought to give you an award, as your picture takes 20 years off his life!

Well received. Blue though Park City is, there were enough centers and to the right of center to make up a friendly and appreciative audience.

Once again great words and great photos thank you.

I read it ["Red Sky Mourning," Jack Carr] … and loved it too.

Steve, finished reading "Red Sky Mourning." Was the first of Carr's for me although I know you recommended some time ago.
Was very interesting and I will now go back to read his first six.
Two comments: no specifics but the Company departmental structure has changed both in names and functions. Technology as a focus, other than gadgets is now the main focus if I am to believe his descriptions.

The Breitling watch is real. I had one when I was a boater. It was launched in Europe long before the US because the FAA dragged its feet approving here because it does indeed broadcast on 121.5, the emergency frequency used by air and marine distress calls. I had one in my boating days. At about $24 k ( 2015), it is a good safety device. It’s very heavy on the wrist and can’t be tested because if activated as a test it has to be sent back to the factory($20k) to be reset.
Not boating these days but MY WAY, a 44 foot, Hinckley was our ride.. Jet propulsion to handle the shallow waters of FL.

Like Carr and his reading lists. Thanks for recommending.

PS. JSR has or had the same model boat.
