High winds and falling snow. Low visibility. Best skiing in hollows. Eg. 2x Hidden Treasure. Have resumed old habit: Mid AM coffee break at Empire Lodge. Kudos to Empire Lodge for upgrading from self serve/pay cashier to table service!
Note: At 1000 vertical feet per lift, 532 lifts x 1000= 532K vertical feet skied YTD.

50% more calories per run do to six to eight inches of new snow on the ground, high winds, and variable visibility. I was tentative when I couldn't see, but did fairly well in better lighting. Skied with NH Cousin #1. We enjoyed a coffee break at Empire Lodge.
Put together six tight turns in eight inches of snow on Silver Hill. Well... its a big deal... progress, for Mwah (sic).
Deer Valley continues to do a great job on all fronts. Friendly, well trained personnel and now, belatedly, a fair amount of new snow.

Coffee break. Back at my old Empire Lodge table social distancing. Lonely and afraid, I reach for palliative social media and enter the virtual world. No banana peel in sight. PGA and My Belle must not be here today.

Earlier.
At ski corral, tap on shoulder. Its Comic Mom. She says she skiing with Mrs. Driggs and Memphis starting off at Mountaineer. "Maybe I'll run into you over there, " says I.

Golf stops me at Wasatch summit to say hello. He's skiing with Chicago friends. Says he's still working at Goresuch. Needs to feed his family, he says.

On Sultan, dentist from Roosevelt, UT says he's trying to sell his practice. Wants to retire. We talked highlights of Uintah basin...Ute reservation drilling, Browns Park, and fishing the Green below the Flaming Gorge Dam.

Started skiing down Wizard. It seemed much to long. To compound the senior moment, didn't recognize the run as Tycoon until near the bottom.

Kid from Denver on Quincy said, "after 15 years of snowboarding, this is my first day on skis." I gave him three tips. He seemed grateful, but maybe he was just being polite. Kid.says he'd soon to start a job as a financial advisor at Fidelity.

1. If your shin is not always pushing against boot front, you are doing something wrong.
2. On turn, 65% of your weight should be on the downhill ski.
3. Start turn with downhill ski toe tip, weight on ball of foot.

Favorite spot. Favorite table view. I get to look at both the landscape and TIMDT, an overwhelming cornucopia of beauty! They know to put us here!

Addendum:

I envy you, Steve! Pandemic or not, you are able to have fun. Good for you. Have booked a ticket to SLC for March 1st for a short stay between tenants, and hope to come again last week before season closes. Will let you know, and hope to see you and Margaret. In meantime, get your shots - my second this Friday - and stay safe.
