Hi Steve!
Your detailed notes were music to my ears! - even with your usual note of "possible infallibility". Much of the conversation was a bit over my head but Rabbi David seemed to me to be exceptionally clear in his handling of questions. Religious authoritarianism, as a weapon, is a major threat to genuine peace in the world today as I see it. I'd like to witness more joint congregations of different faiths listening as their respective leaders discuss elements of their faiths in business-like "brainstorming session -- no negative objections.

Dear Margaret and Steve, Just back from 2 weeks in Belize. Wonderful trip – truly third world. I was drawn to the comment in your blog from the Rabbi: : Anti-Semitism, largely driven by left wing movements, threatens the status of Jews throughout Europe.” I see it is primarily right wing (neo Nazi, neo fascists). What am I missing? Jews, alienated by their “differences” were forced to look within their own ghettos for “the common good”. Stripped of their possessions and property as they were cast out to other more receptive, less oppressive countries (i.e. Spain to Turkey in the early 1500’s), they were forced into forms of socialism for survival. Rarely being allowed up the ladder of prosperity, other than to serve as merchants and money lenders, most were laborers (proletariat), oppressed by Bourgeoisie, hence Lenin and Trotsky. Over simplified, for sure, but a part of the equation. Just finished Alex’s Wake. A good read on the role of the French/Vichy in supporting the German’s “solution” from ’39-’42.
