Picto Diary - 27 28 August 2019 - Pelicans

Ferrying Drums who is auditioning for next year.

This year he was one of two drummers in Caleb Chapman premium Jr High rock band, Jukebox Antihero (JA). JA was awarded for fourth time running "Best Jr. High rock band in America" by Downbeat Magazine.

Drums hopes to repeat in a premium rock band. Grandpa hopes he funnels to a premium jazz band to broaden experience.

Drums transfer from Rowland Hall in SLC to Treasure Hill in Park City was driven in no small part because of Park City Schools' notoriously fine music programs. Drums is enrolled in a jazz band class and a percussion class at Treasure Hill Middle School.

Caleb Chapman is a genius. He runs the top teen music training facility in the country. Look it up.

Hayden Peak. Uinta Range. Elevation 12.5K feet.

Mirror Lake in foreground. Of 500 lakes in the Uinta Range, Mirror lake is the most accessible, just off UT SR 150. — at Hayden Peak Overlook.

Bishop circum-walks Mirror Lake - 1.5 miles. Second walk of the day, first being three miles round trip with KAT to North Forty, from Wasatch Bagel. So far so good on Bishop regimen to get minimum 7000 steps a day and eat a carb free, refined sugar free, starch free diet. For me, 4.5 miles today equals about 9400 steps. Bishop down 25 pounds from a year ago at this time (275 lbs now).

Nubby Uinta range "peaks" in distance. Uinta uplift occurred 70 million years ago. Other Rockies ranges (Wasatch, Sawatch, San Juan's etc.) uplifted 25 million years ago...they haven't had as much time to erode into nubs as have the Uintas.

The Uintas are the most poleward mountain range in the world to reach over 13,000 feet (4,000 m) without modern glaciers, and are in fact the highest mountain range in the contiguous United States with no modern glaciers.

While the Mirror Lake walk is level, there is still a huff puff factor at 9500 feet of elevation.

Love the amazing painting behind Margaret. Any chance you could share it without folks in the frame?
