Putin Bolts from Cooperation with the West

Through 2008 Putin was more or less cooperating with the West's "new world order."  He suddenly bolted.  Reasons were that he saw Western Culture in decline (insane energy policy for one) and did not want to be sucked into the vortex.  He also, presciently, saw opportunity.   So far, he has played his hand brilliantly.
