The building alliance between Mormonism and Islam?

At the World Cup in Doha, a tweet by the US Soccer team which defaced the Iranian flag as a purported protest against Islamic Iran's views on homosexual's and women's rights called to mind the recent mocking of Mormon tenants at BYU football games at Stanford and Oregon. In 2017 I penned an essay (linked below) about the similarities between Islam and Mormonism. As Mormons, like Muslims, receive brickbats from enlightened godless progressives it seems that Mormons and Muslims share more common ground than once thought possible.

The LDS Church has picked up on the shared values theme with its recent publication of a pamphlet, "Islam and Christianity."  Are we watching the building of a new political alliance between Mormonism and Islam to fight the rising anti-religion progressive juggernaut?
