Trump Hypes the Crowd (American Spectator)

Trump hypes the crowd with slick rally on eve of inauguration - The Spectator World

Addendum:

The American Spectator piece above, read early this AM, pre-Deer Valley skiing, prompted me to reflect on DJT's upcoming presidency. I've been an unabashed, unequivocal Trump supporter since 2015. My three endorsements (2016, 2020, and 2024) of DJT are included in this link to my website:  SDT Presidential Endorsement of DJT | Stephen DeWitt Taylor

Asked to boil it down to one word... my support for Trump, would be, "authenticity." In a sea of focus group driven, principle free chameleon politicians, Trump is authentic. There is of course a lot of other stuff to justify support for DJT. His love for the US is transparent. He has raised a great family. His first term indicated, broadly, that he supports the American experiment as conceived by the founders. Looked at recently, Trump seems to have learned from his mistakes. His team building effort, to date, is nothing short of spectacular. Having assembled new management teams to turn around four failing businesses I see nothing but promise in Trump's team building efforts.

There seems to be something providential about Trump's appearance on the scene as well. I listened to Speaker Johnson speak about this with Bari Weiss on her Honestly podcast even earlier this AM (I am worried about my old geezer sleep deficiency!). Johnson said he noted to the president elect, during their colloque at Mar a Lago, that his survival of two assassination speaks to his current positioning being as a result of a higher power. I can't say that Speaker Johnson thought of this before I did.

I'm also reminded of Shakespeare... Julius Ceaser:

Brutus and Cassius are discussing the final phase of their civil war with the forces of Octavian and Marcus Antonius. Cassius has been urging that they group their forces at Sardis and take advantage of the secure location to catch their breath. Brutus, however, advocates heading off the enemy at Philippi before Octavian can recruit more men. Brutus's main point is that, since "the enemy increaseth every day" and "We, at the height, are ready to decline" (lines 216–217), he and Cassius must act now while the ratio of forces is most advantageous. "There's a tide in the affairs of men," he insists; that is, power is a force that ebbs and flows in time, and one must "go with the flow." Waiting around only allows your power to pass its crest and begin to ebb; if the opportunity is "omitted" (missed), you'll find yourself stranded in miserable shallows.

Brutus:
There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures.

It seems to me that Trump's tide is at flood. Timing is everything, and Trump's timing is right. American revival is his to lose.

I have been, to the chagrin of many, calling Trump a political genius for nine years. I was amused to have recently seen this wholly accurate quote from DJT detractor Van Jones vindicating my genius call:

“Can we cut it out? … Donald Trump is smarter than me, you, and all critics. You know how we know? Because he has the White House, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, the popular vote, he has a massive media ecosystem bigger than the mainstream built around him and for him, and a religious fervor in a political movement around him, and his best buddy is the richest person in the history of the world, and the most relevant Kennedy is with him. This dude is a phenomenon. He is the most powerful human on Earth in our lifetime. And we’re still saying, ‘How is this guy doing it?’ We look like idiots.” Van Jones

There are several hours between my writing this piece and inauguration. The future is not without its perils, but I am more hopeful for the best than I have been in some years. Now to the slopes.
