Ukraine. Russian staying power and Western vicissitudes
Russia's historical capacity to suffer and play the long game contrasted with the likely vicissitudes of mercurial, inept, corrupt US political and military leadership played a big part in my call (Afghanistan anyone?) recommending against US support for a proxy war in Ukraine. A faltering, US led war effort is not something I am hoping for. I would love to be proven wrong in my assessment. Though I believe Russia's ability and desire to destabilize the West is overstated, a well led, well executed US/NATO strategy to win this war would have been preferable to the current immoral, seemingly endless, bloodletting, war of attrition that has already resulted in the death of 200 thousand Ukrainian soldiers.
