India's produce, spice and floral abundance makes for a colorful India. The Hindus incorporated India's ubiquitous color spectrum into their religious rites, rituals, and dress. India's color riot is an assault on the senses.

Jinnah's hostility to a united India at time of partition seems, in hindsight, to be justified. What is the future for India's Muslim population in a country where Hindu nationalism is not only on the rise, but, encouraged by the Indian government?

And, then only do I realize that this is not a football game. These are two countries on the brink of nuclear war. The sensation of this realization, while the chants continue, is surreal.

INDIA.
